The Whangarei Men’s Shed and the Purua School kicked off a training program to give two students and opportunity to work in a safe wood working environment.
Thanks to Maria E their teacher for organizing this program which will run for the next two weeks on a Thursday. Today the girls made a small wooden tray which can be used as a tool box, garden implements tray or anything else they might wish to use them for.
Next week we will look at building bird houses which hopefully we can finished in one session. John W and Derek T who worked with the girls thoroughly enjoyed their day and we encouraged Maria to build her own tray. Must say she was quite handy on the tools; well done Maria.
We look forward to seeing them back in the Shed next week, and hopefully this will be just one of many programs we can run with schools in months to come.
