Covid-19 and our Shed
The Whangarei Mens Shed will be opening again on the 18th May but will be adhering to strict guidelines as to the number of men able to attend on any given day, as we look to preserve the required social distancing rules outlined by the government.
We will not be allowing visitors to the Shed for some weeks yet until such time
as we all revert back to some sort of “normal”
Similarly we will not be accepting any applications for new membership at this stage.
Welcome to the Whangarei Men’s Shed
The Men’s Shed movement started at the turn of this century and has spread to a dozen countries in the world including the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
At this time there are over 900 ‘Sheds’ in Australia and 106 here in New Zealand, spread from Invercargill to Kaitaia and a further 29 in the development stage.
The Whangarei Men’s Shed is primarily a place where men come together for companionship; a sense of purpose and to use their skills to support community and personal projects.
It is a place for men to enjoy the company of other men; to make or repair and finish items; to learn new skills; to share their skills with others and the community; develop friendships and enhance self esteem.
