Covid-19 and our Shed
As I am sure you will all be aware by now your Shed is temporarily closed as we all work through the four weeks (minimum) shutdown that the government has asked all New Zealanders to observe.
Many of our members are in the most at risk age bracket so let view this as a good thing.
We will update everyone once the situation returns to normal and when we are able to re-open your Shed.
Welcome to the Whangarei Men’s Shed
The Men’s Shed movement started at the turn of this century and has spread to a dozen countries in the world including the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
At this time there are over 900 ‘Sheds’ in Australia and 106 here in New Zealand, spread from Invercargill to Kaitaia and a further 29 in the development stage.
The Whangarei Men’s Shed is primarily a place where men come together for companionship; a sense of purpose and to use their skills to support community and personal projects.
It is a place for men to enjoy the company of other men; to make or repair and finish items; to learn new skills; to share their skills with others and the community; develop friendships and enhance self esteem.
